Admissions

Open Afternoons for September 2027 Admissions

No need to book, just turn up on the day for a tour and talk with our Head, Mrs Thompson, and our Early Years Lead, Mrs Harrison😊.

Ā

All admissions to join our lovely school must be made through Dorset County Council. Children start school at the beginning of the school year in which they turn five. All children can start school full time, which we encourage, but parents/carers can discuss the possibility of part time arrangements with the school until the child reaches compulsory school age.

Children entering Sherborne Abbey CEĀ  Primary School at 4+ are usually admitted as a single entry group, within reception classes.Ā  The school’s published admission number (PAN) is 45, but we are able to accommodate up to 60 pupils per year group.

The closing date for applications for September 2027 is 15th January 2027, however if you are moving into the area there is a late admissions process, so please don’t worry. Please also note that if you have missed our Open Afternoons you are very welcome to arrange a visit through our school office ā˜ŗļø.

We will follow the SAST Schools’ Admission Policy should applications for places exceed the school admission number.

In-Year applications can be made at any time, and full details can be found below.

Some of our year groups are over subscribed, but access to a school place at Sherborne Abbey might still be obtained through the appeals process. If more than one applicant applies for a place, then our Admission Officer at Dorset County Council will support families through this process.

All contact details and admissions criteria can be obtained using the link below. You are also very welcome to contact our office for any further support or information.
